As they arrive from the Paint Shop, the gleaming, untrimmed bodyshells are placed on a 1.5 km-long assembly line. Depending on the individual requirements of each customer NedCar’s highly trained specialists, together with some 40 robots fit as many as 1,500 different parts on the bodyshell. Our Just-in-Time and Just-in-Sequence processes ensure that all these parts are delivered precisely on schedule: at the right moment and at the right place.
To speed up the final assembly process even more, and to ensure that all components are ready to fit and ready to use, a select number of suppliers have their own production facilities on NedCar’s factory site in Born. Here they produce complete modules, such as the dashboard and the front end of the car. More information on the activities of these suppliers can be found under Assembly and under Modules.
At the end of the Final Assembly line, the cars are (almost) ready for the road. However, they are only allowed to leave the factory after several comprehensive inspections, including tests of the main systems and functions and a water-tightness test. When the last of the many inspections and tests has been passed, the cars are driven to the delivery yard. From there, they are transported by road to the dealer showrooms.
