Every day, several hundred tonnes of steel and zinc-coated HSS (High Strength Steel) arrive in NedCar’s large Press Shop, which covers a total area of 26,000 square metres. This is where the car building process starts.
In the Press Shop, around 250 different parts are first pressed and then shaped by bending, cutting and trimming. For this purpose use is made of advanced equipment and technology.
To guarantee that NedCar’s key objectives with regard to quality, cost control, delivery performance and flexibility are always met, all our products are manufactured in accordance with ISO/TS 16949, the stringent automotive quality standard. The Press Shop also features a high degree of process control and comprehensive automation to guarantee the accuracy of the pressing operations and to ensure that the parts are available at the required moment and at the right place. This is important for our Just-in-Time delivery schedules, for our batch processing systems, and for our EDI-based (Electronic Data Interchange) logistics systems. Thanks to the well-planned and well-managed production process, which includes a quick die change capability, unscheduled downtime in the production process is kept to a minimum.
